The true story of the 1973 tennis match between World number one Billie Jean King and ex-champ and serial hustler Bobby Riggs.

Took me long enough to finally watching this movie. Finally! Here's my honest review on Battle of the Sexes,  a biographical sports comedy-drama film directed by Jonathan Dayton and Valerie Faris and written by Simon Beaufoy.

First of all, I am a huge fan of films based on true story. They give an emotional pleasure and somehow related as it does happened to a person, just like mine. Well, except the fact that most of the times, we already know how the ending will turn out to be. Anyway, I quite enjoyed watching this movie even though I'm not a feminist (I am a humanist btw), nor I am a sport enthusiast.

However, there was some issue that I found it as turn off for a potentially good movie like this. Cmon, you're making stories about two greatest tennis player that battled each other for a gender equality here, even the simple description can send the shivers down your spine right? Unfortunately, the movie did not.

Why? Here's the thing. This movie is too simple. But sexism and the problems that it causes are complicated. In the movie, everything is spelled out in a painfully obvious way. It condescends to make sure that everyone understands. The sexist characters come out in shameless and laughably overt ways. The good person defeats the bad person and everyone cheers. It's a fairy tale ending, hooray! But none of that is realistic.

On the brighter side, Steve Carell and Emma Stone are charming and wonderful in this movie. Besides that, the clear motif and storyline conveyed in Battle of the Sexes clearly defines it's ability to attract every kind of viewers from teenagers to the elderly. Certainly not a perfect movie but definitely heartwarming and bubbly, hence, suitable for everyone. So people, if you have not watching this movie yet, go give it a try. You'll like it. Hopefully.

I give this movie 6 / 10
Thank you for reading my review and have a good day.

First of all, the picture above is unrelated, I just put it there cuz I love The Beatles so much hehe.
As I scrolled Quora, I found this 10 simple yet mesmerizing tips on how we can have a better life if we dare to switch our patterns of everyday typical life we live currently.

1. Avoid social media as much as you can
Social media tends to drive people crazy. Constantly scrolling down your feed, forever checking how many likes your post recieved, getting jealous when you see someone having a better life than you. It's toxic. Focus on your own life, and avoid caring about what other people are up to. You will be much happier this way.
*still tough for me as I rely on socmed a lot, but I'm slowly move forward towards this*

2. Be grateful for everything you have.
If you break your leg, be thankful that you even have a leg. If you have poor eye sight, be grateful that you're not blind etc. The more you are thankful for the little things you take for granted in life, the more content you will become
*every single day*

3. Have a regular sleeping pattern
Try to sleep at least 8–9 hours every day, at the same time. Your body will become a clock if you do this, and you'll find your day to be more productive. In addition to that, avoid going on your phone before you sleep. The light that radiates from the screen can really affect a good night's sleep.
*i always find sleeping at night burdensome lol but you know what, I really should give this a chance*

4. Be the best version of yourself
Do not change to fit in with other people’s expectations of you. Change because you want to be a better person for your own sanity.
* easier to be said than done. Sigh*

5. Travel

YES! Go out, have adventures, explore different cultures and ways of living. You'll be surprised as to how therapeutic this is.
*i used to backpack alone when I got free time and of course, $$$*

6. Exercise
Pretty standard really. Excercise is a great way to release any stress you may be having in your life. Not only is it good for your body, the act of exercise can help you psychologically also.
*THE HARDEST SORRY*

7. Do not chase after people
Never and I mean NEVER chase after people! If they come back, they know what you're worth but if they don't, it's their loss. In life people will come and go, you can't keep everyone, you don't own them. Let them go. Be free. Be happy.
*i am an expert on this -flip hair-*

8. Surround yourself with positive people
People often say that we are the people we surround ourselves with. Hence surrounding yourself with positive people, will also make you a positive person! Now who doesn't want that, right?
*this is very very important people!*

9. Read read read!
Read and expand your knowledge. It doesn't have to be a book, it can be articles, or even blog. Just read, and keep your mind occupied with interesting facts and information!
*still struggling to finish my first book of 2018......*

10. Eat well
I know, cliché right? But I mean it. Eat well, avoid junk food as much as you can. If you love fizzy drinks, try flavoured sparkling water as an alternative. If you love chocolate, try eating sweet fruit like bananas or melons. Drink green tea instead of regular tea. Love pizza? Make your own home made pizza with healthy toppings. Honestly, it's not that hard once you get started :)
*YESSSSSSSS*

There are a lot of things you can do to improve your life, not just these 10 mentioned above. Remember, stop being an idle, stop procrastinating and start moving. Healthy body create a healthy mind and eventually lead to a better life. We can do this.
Till then, bye ❤

Set during WWII, a story seen through the innocent eyes of Bruno, the eight-year-old son of the commandant at a German concentration camp, whose forbidden friendship with a Jewish boy on the other side of the camp fence has startling and unexpected consequences.

So I watched The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas today and this movie seriously is one of the saddest films I have ever seen, but I felt it was very maturely handled. Even though it's mainly about touchy subject with the holocaust and Nazi stuff going on, this movie blended it with the friendship element of the two boys (refer the poster above) very nicely put.

From this movie, I learned something new about the subject matter from the kids point of view, reminded myself how pure and innocent child can be at times. I expected tears but I didn't shed any while watching this movie, surprisingly. I do believe that this movie does not intent for an overflow emotion attraction but more to the focus of internal and external conflict of Bruno, the main character of this movie and forbidden friendship between Bruno and his mystery friend, Schmuel.

The great success of the film is its simplicity, it does not seek to over analyse but simply allows the development of the characters to tell the story. Beware of the ending as based on my experience I was very shock and having quite hard time to digest it, really caught me off guard.  Please, please see this film. It will remain with you for a long time.

Here's one of my favorite scene from the movie.
Now I need to find and read the book asap as I'm loving the movie version of it, I bet the book will definitely more stunning.
I give this movie 8 / 10
Thank you for reading my review and have a good day.
